The transfer paper is then placed onto the pre-treated fabric and run through a heat press at a high temperature and pressure. This causes the ink to sublimate, or transform from a solid to a gas state without passing through the liquid state, and bond with the fibers of the fabric, resulting in a permanent, full-color print.
